ENSAT
is leading a project team of U.S. and Kazak specialists in the design
of municipal water and sewer system upgrades for the City of Atyrau,
in western Kazakstan. Under a project jointly funded by the U.S. TDA
and the World Bank, ENSAT is developing plans and specifications
to construct reliable water supply and sewage collection systems
in two areas in Atyrau; a housing district with 20,000 inhabitants
and a new business development site near the city's center.
The scope of the project includes a river crossing using a horizontal
directional drilling technique to minimize disturbance to important
fisheries and to traffic on the Ural River, 3 new pumping stations,
replacement of over 15 kilometers of water and sewage pipe, and
connections to 65 apartment buildings.
